ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. She was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was multisport throughout her childhood, however she only discovered soccer at 14. After high school, Morgan was a part of Cypress Elite's club team. They were the winners of the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and came in third in their under-19 bracket. Morgan continued her education at Diamond Bar High School, where she improved her soccer abilities. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. Additionally, she played for regional and state divisions of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan advanced her soccer skills at UC Berkeley, where she was the leader of the California Golden Bears team in scoring since the beginning of her season. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years and also to two times to the second round. Morgan was among four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. This was the first time she was one of the Hermann Trophy finalists to be placed as the top player on the list. Upon graduating a semester earlier in the year, Morgan was ranked third in all-time goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was able to maintain soccer careers at the college and national levels during her education. Morgan was injured in her ACL in her first season as a Berkeley player. She was not able to participate in training with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April of 2008. In Mexico Morgan scored her first international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a participant in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, earning her team a gold medal. One of them was a victory goal over Italy that secured the U.S. team a final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and helped the team win against France. Morgan was able to win despite the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score an assist or a goal.
