Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was the daughter of actors Melissa D. Canaday (New York City) and Edward James Hyland (New York City). When she was just four years old she got into the industry by doing voice overs and commercials. Private Parts was her first film. The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by Another World (1964) where she was "Rain Wolfe" the child found in a park, who was looked after and loved by Josie. Sarah went on to work with Amy Carlson ("Josie" on AW) multiple times, including Falcone (2000), Law & Order (1990) and Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story(2000) as one of the Audrey Hepburns. The following year, she was cast on ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999), starring Audra McDonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chernoweth, Joe Guld's Secret ((2000) as well as Falcone ((2000)). Apart from her work in television and film, Sarah studied voice, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, tap, Theatre Dance, and performed in her tap and Theatre dance classes in "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A New York-born and raised girl, Sarah spent much of her time in the fields of television, film, and voicing many radio ads and also traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, as he worked in many different theaters across the United States. After being taught at home by her mother, she attended public school through second grade. She was accepted in the 6th year to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) in which she remained until 2008 when she graduated. Sarah at the time was 18, relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where she landed an aircraft pilot named "My American Family". The name was picked up and was changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) has received numerous awards, most notably the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
